What is DTG? DTG stands for direct to garment printing, also referred to as digital printing.
The process. With DTG, a printer applies specialty waterbased inks directly onto the garment. This process is similar to printing onto a sheet of paper except it prints onto the garment.
Pros/Cons. Since the ink is thinner than plastisol ink (screen printing ink), it prints best on lighter colored garments. Greater detail can be achieved and more colors can be printed allowing for a photographic print. Only 100% cotton garments (or garments with a higher concentration of cotton) can be used. Direct to garment prints are not as vibrant as screen printed items. Since the design is processed and printed digitally, it allows us to print smaller quantities. We can even print photographs. However, the picture needs to be high resolution (300 dpi) and sized for your printing needs.
Ideas. DTG is ideal for printing photographs onto in-memoriam t-shirts and printing colorful designs on small quantities. Call or to place an order or ask questions about DTG. We provide custom digital printing for individuals, businesses, organizations, churches, schools, sports teams, etc.
